Steve Saroff and Glenn Kreisel…
Two long time friends and business partners, Steve Saroff and Glenn Kreisel, who both started writing software as kids, and who became cynical and jaded through years of working with hypsters, shysters, and flat-out liars, including some of the most notorious industrial of the big-time dot-com cons.

Glenn and Steve – we – are the authors and inventors of the original “FreeMail” email system, which was sold the Kinkos as the world-wide Kinkonet system. Because of this “success,” more than ten years ago we attracted our first round of business investors business partners. When we discovered that vastly more money and energy was being put into the Wall Street Journal advertising for our software than in compensation for the creation of what we had done, we became a tad bit cynical.

So, we sold our FreeMail, Inc. company to WAM!NET, a close partner with MCIWorldCom. WAM!NET had raised several hundred million dollars (nearly a billion dollars), and Glenn and I were given instant power and responsibility to slap together a networked software document transport system that would somehow generate billions of dollars of profit… this entailed hundreds of thousands of miles of air travel between Missoula, Minneapolis, London, New York, and California, and equally absurd amount of time in windowless conference rooms where non-technical wealthy people banged their fists on tables and demanded to see pigs fly and tides stop.

When MCIWorldCom went bankrupt, along with Global Crossing, Enron, and all those other places, our 2nd big “success” became, well, a Jading event.

Along the way both of us have had more big-time cynical and jading experiences, with companies and people who seem to like making up stories more than in making things happen. Finally, a few years ago, we figured it out: if you have a really good idea, the best thing to do is just get busy, do the work and put it together yourself or with other technologists, then you all are part of the process and you can make serious money, have fun, and help the world out a bit in the process: the best ideas are the ones that add good things to people’s lives.
