Projects We Could Get Interested In

People keep sending us email with ideas that are not the sort of projects which we have expertise or interest in.

In essence:   think either
1) Something that could make a lot of money or,
2) Large-scale goodness.

If your idea is really just about helping you support yourself, we can’t help.

To help understand what sort of projects we would like to hear about,here is a random list of ideas that I know would get  our  attention.

A pure money example: The Pine Bark Beetle Problem –

  • The Problem:   million of acres of forest are dying.

  • The Opportunity:  figure out a phermon/natural-attractant method to slow down the spread of PBB.

  • What C&J Could do:  marketing, funding, technology advice.

  • Why?  The current ’solutions’ are mostly in the realm of thinning of forests at costs of $100’s to $1,000’s per acre. A more elegant solution would be a great money machine project.

An example that we are already experienced with: A New Social Network That  Would Really Get People (actually) Talking -

  • The Problem: people are isolating themselves more than ever before.

  • The Opportunity: There are 6 billion people out there.

  • What C&J Could do: Software development and marketing.

  • Why?  We’ve been working on this vein for several years (see some of our other projects), and though we have had  success, we are still hoping to find a way to create a million+ user social networking site that is not just screen-text-impersonal; something better than what we have already done. Something better than anyone has done. Something amazing. Amaze us, and let’s get busy….

An example of what matters more than the two above examples: Software Which Would Really Help with any of the following (or other similarly difficult)  issues:

  • Mental health care or  helping  people who have vision disabilities — each of these areas are really lacking in great, ultra-good software.

  • The Opportunity:  There are too many people out there who are ignored and isolated, and because computers are now so cheap, software could make some people’s lives much easier.

  • What C&J could do: software development, funding.

  • Why?  It is the right thing to do.

And, finally, any Well Thought Out Project  which would will make the world a better place.
